 Recipe Ingredients: 

You can add these ingredients to add richness and depth of flavor to this recipe. These ingredients make it more amazing and delicious. 

  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • Fresh black peppers
  • ⅔ Cup of milk (any kind)
  • Pat of butter for serving
  • 5 large rich sweet potatoes

  • 1 teaspoon chopped ginger
  • 2 teaspoons chopped the finest rosemary
  • Fresh thyme leaves or chopped parsley, optional
  • 3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil or melted butter

It’s the main ingredient of today’s recipe. I advise you to use always very sharp and rich color sweet potato use for mashed. For good taste and very amazing flavor, use rich sweet potatoes.

Take your pick! I love the fruity olive oil in this mash, and it makes the recipe vegan and dairy-free. But if you prefer butter, its rich flavor is delicious here too.

Milk (Any kind)

I use almond milk because it’s what I keep on hand, but regular milk or another type of plant-based milk would work as well.

Rosemary and sweet potatoes are one of my favorite cold-weather flavor combinations! The fresh herbs make this mash cozy, aromatic, and complex.

How to make it

As in my mashed cauliflower recipe, I’m not mashing the sweet potatoes here. Instead, I purée them in a food processor to get a super smooth and creamy texture.

If you want a thicker texture, feel free to use a potato masher instead, but I love this method.  

First Step

First, cook the potatoes. When making traditional mashed potatoes, I boil the potatoes in a large saucepan (or cook them in the Instant Pot). But when I work with sweet potatoes, I cook them. 

It concentrates their natural sweetness and makes their flesh smooth and creamy smoothie to enjoy. And very perfect for mashed sweet potatoes! Wash the potatoes and prick them with a fork. 

Second Step

Place them on a foil-lined baking sheet and bake at 425 °F for 60 minutes or until tender. You should be able to pierce them easily with a fork. So stir! When the potatoes are cool, and you feel it’s ready to continue the recipe, then check it. 

Third Step

Transfer the cooked meat to a food processor, along with the butter or oil, rosemary, garlic, ginger, salt, and pepper. Pour in the milk and work until you get a creamy mixture. Season as desired.  

Finally, eat. Serve the mashed sweet potatoes hot, sprinkled with parsley or fresh thyme, a knob of butter, salt, and pepper. 

Freeze and Store

These mashed sweet potatoes keep well in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Put them in the microwave to reheat them! You enjoy this amazing recipe any meal of the day, its rich and creamy smooth flavor always gives you a very refreshing and light bright feeling.
